1. Taj Mahal

  • The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the bank of the river Yamuna in the city of Agra. It is one of the seven wonders of the world. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. Also, there are water channels and fountains in the entrance which makes the monument even more spectacular. The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. 2. Agra Fort

  • Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra, India. Also known as Lal –Qila, Fort Rouge, or Qila-i-Akbari. Akbar the great called this fort his home throughout his reign till 1605. It is also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. It shares a close second spot next to the famous Taj Mahal.   • Fatehpur Sikri is located in the Agra District of the state, Uttar Pradesh. Also known as the pride of the Mughal Empire. Founded in the 1571 century by Mughal Emperor Akbar. Further, it is  a unique blend of Indo-Islamic architectural excellence and religious beliefs adorns Fatehpur Sikri. Moreover, it is essentially a fortified city and had been the capital of the Empire for fifteen years. 4. Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb

  • Itmad-Ud-Daulah’s Tomb is a Mughal mausoleum in the city of Agra in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Built by Nur Jahan in 1628. Often called “jewel box“, “Bachcha Taj” or the “Baby Taj“. Moreover, this was the first structure to be built entirely out of marble stones, with pietra dura, and make use of the famous pleasure gardens. Along with the main building, the structure consists of numerous outbuildings and gardens. It basically consists of Indo-Islamic architecture, with the use of arched entrances and octagonal shaped towers. Also regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal.

5. Akbar’s Tomb

  • Akbar’s tomb is the tomb of the Mughal emperor Akbar and, situated in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Built in 1605–1613 by his son Jahangir. The tomb is built in red sandstone and holds some of the most stunning marble designs. Moreover, Akbar himself commenced the construction of this tomb, according to Tartary tradition, which stated to commence the construction of one’s tomb during one’s lifetime. It is an important architectural masterpiece of the Mughal era. Thus, it is one of the best places to visit near Agra.
